Dr. Wael Mualla met on the 7th of February with Ms. Cindi Warren Mentz, director of operations in Middle East and North Africa project development for American Civil Research and Development Foundation, to discuss prospects for scientific cooperation between the two sides.During the meeting, the two discussed steps that have been completed to establish a joint research program for postgraduate studies in sustainable agriculture in collaboration with ICARDA. These steps include the implementation of recommendations taken from the workshop on sustainable agriculture recently held at the University of Damascus, as well as procedures necessary to implement the project which includes sending a number of American university professors and experts to determine what is necessary to carry out the program.The meeting was attended by Dr. Majd Jamal, deputy director of the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA).
