As part of the lecture series offered at the Syrian-German master's program called Economic Changes in the Arab Region (ECAR), Mr. Abdullah Al-Dardari, deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs gave a presentation on the 8th of February at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Damascus entitled: "Partnerships between the public and private sectors."  Attending the lecture were: Dr. Wael Mualla, president of University of Damascus, master’s executive director, dean’s deputies, teachers in the program, heads of the departments, as well as students in the "German-Syrian" Master program.  Mr. Al-Dardari reviewed the economic situation in Syria and rationales for partnerships between the public and private sectors. A discussion period followed between Mr. Al-Dardari and the attendees.  It's worth noting that the Joint German-Syrian Master's program, "Economic Changes in the Arab Region," is the latest collaboration between the Faculty of Economics and the University of Marburg and is comprised of 14 students from Syria, Egypt, Palestine, and Germany.  The program includes two six-month semesters in addition to an introductory two-month semester designed to help find common interests between the German and Syrian students.  The Master's program began its first semester in October of 2009 at the Faculty of Economics and will continue its second semester at the University of Marburg in April.
