The graduation of a new batch of Arab students

On March 24th, the Arab Student Association at the University of Damascus celebrated on the auditorium of the Faculty of Engineering, the graduation of the latest batch of foreign Arab students who studied at the University of Damascus.Shahnaz Fakosh, member of the National Leadership of the Socialist Baath Party, and president of the Office of National Populist Organizations, said that Damascus University willingness to host Arab students comes from the belief in the role the university plays in strengthening Arab solidarity, Arab educational unity, human capacity development, scientific capabilities and providing the Arab world with a group of university graduates of various expertise. Dr. Muhammad Amer Al-Mardini, vice president of the University of Damascus for Scientific Affairs, pointed out that through its efforts; the University of Damascus strives to graduate an elite cadre of Arab students who will be scientific leaders in their countries.  He added that the university is proud to educate these students who will benefit their countries with the knowledge they acquired in Syria. For his part, Dr. Hussein Aliq, Secretary of the Division for Arab students at Damascus University and Dr. Ramiro Fayez Al-Jbawi said, in a speech to the graduates that the Arab students graduating from the University of Damascus, will move on to their home countries with their minds enlightened, carrying high hopes and bringing with them the message of science and civilization from one of the oldest universities in the region. They added that these students are one aspect of Arab Unity, which Syria seeks to achieve politically, economically and scientifically.  The ceremony ended with the honoring, and bestowal of diplomas to 90 graduates representing a dozen Arab countries and who studied in variety of scientific and literary disciplines at the University of Damascus.
