Celebrating the first graduates from the faculties of Education, Literature, and the Humanities

The Faculties of Education, Literature and Humanities in Sweida celebrated on March 27th the graduation of their first students. Attending the graduation were, Dr. Jamal Al-Abbas secretary of the Damascus University branch of the Socialist Baath Party, Walid Arkoun Al-Shufi secretary of the Socialist Baath party in Sweida, Dr. Malik Mohammad Ali, Governor of Sweida, and Dr. Wael Mualla President of the University of Damascus. Dr. Mualla indicated that the graduation of the first group of students from the Sweida campus is a substantial event and realization of a dream for the students living in Sweida who are now able to graduate from the faculties of literature and humanities in their own governorate. He added that nearly 19% of the students at the University of Damascus are from Sweida.The president also noted that the university is seeking to secure permanent buildings for students in the province, instead of the temporary buildings where they receive lectures. For his part, Dean of the faculty of Literature in Sweida, Dr. Mansour Hadifi said "the opening of four colleges in the province, while preserving the necessary educational framework and renovating existing buildings has had a major impact on the region. Each college has been transformed into a bastion of higher education which will provide our country with youth who are capable of giving back".The Chief of the National Union for Syrian Students in Sweida, Omar Al-Jbai said that "the graduation ceremony for this batch of students is the result of the great deal of importance that Syria places on the field of education. We have advanced higher education through University expansion and the opening of new universities and faculties to meet the needs and demands of today's labor market and society."
