On March 22nd, in celebration of the 47th anniversary of the glorious March 8th Revolution, the branch office of the Teachers’ Association at Damascus University honored about seventy retirees in recognition of their efforts in the service of the educational process.And Dr. Yasser Houria, a member of the regional party leadership and head of the Office of Education and Pioneers and Higher National Education, spotlighted the efforts that teachers make in the ministries of education and higher education to train and prepare future generations in addition to what they offer of even greater value to the educational process.Dr. Houria also mentioned the essential role of the Teachers’ Association for over fifty years in taking care of teachers’ concerns and defending their rights. He stressed that everyone works in harmony for the development of higher education at all levels.In turn, the President of Damascus University, Dr. Wael Mualla, pointed out the role played by the association in the care of the interests of its members and in seeking to obtain new benefits for them, indicating what the retirees have done from sowing seeds of knowledge, raising generations, and preparing them to face a working life with confidence and reliability. He also drew attention to the retirees’ efforts in the service of the university. And Dr. Ahmad Manadeli, head of the branch office of the Teachers’ Association at the University, said that the Teachers’ Association carries out tasks to the fullest, defends its members and demands their rights just as it takes part in promoting the educational process and contributes to the intellectual community with various types of skills, expertise and specialists to achieve overall development of society.He then brought up in his speech to the retirees that the literature, books and research left by the retirees always show their present efforts and the patriotic and national responsibilities that they bore, which was clearly reflected on the educational process.In addition, the branch office of the Teachers’ Association at Damascus University held a reception on this occasion at Rida Said Hall during which the website for the association was unveiled. The website will be launched completely in a few weeks.Dr. Ghiath Barakat, the Minister for Higher Education, and Dr. Jamal Abbas, Secretary of the Party Branch at Damascus University in addition to a number of members of the leadership and members of the Executive Office of the Teachers’ Association all attended the ceremonies.
