
The Syrian newspaper "Al-Watan" held a ceremony on the 6th of March to honor students in the Media Department at Damascus University after they finished a three-month internship at the newspaper. Dr. Wael Mualla, President of Damascus University, noted how important internships are for students. They refine the theoretical aspect of their education and give it a practical application, by giving them the opportunity to benefit from the experience and expertise of the media centers they work for, helping them to develop their professionalism. Dr. Mualla praised Al-Watan for all the efforts made in helping the interns to develop their abilities in the field of media, and said that he hoped for further cooperation with the newspaper in the future. In turn, the Chief Editor of Al-Watan, Wadaah Abd Rabbou, stressed that the newspaper was keen to cooperate with Damascus University through more internships for media students, in order to develop their abilities and performance in the field of media, and to secure support for them so that they would be ready to enter the job market. He asserted that the newspaper would host more media students and could offer job opportunities to talented, outstanding students in the Media Department at the University. Diplomas were handed out to the interns at the end of the ceremony.
