Memorandum of Accord with the Al Jazeera Satellite Network in Media Training
The University of Damascus, represented by its President Dr. Wael Mulla, and the Al Jazeera Satellite Network, represented by its General Manager Wadah Khanafar, signed a memorandum of accord in the field of media training Feburary 27.The memorandum contained values of both sides in regards to supporting means of cooperation in working on developing and multiplying the applied programs for media students and the exchange of experts and advisors from both the University and Al Jazeera in different media disciplines. In addition to cooperation on an administrative level, the memorandum also mentioned the organization of media activities and events which would serve shared developmental goals and offers training opportunities in the field for advanced students, so that they could gain professional work experience. According to the memorandum, Al Jazeera will employ its media centers to provide training courses to the students of the University of Damascus as part of the intended plan. In exchange, the University will rely upon Al Jazeera's media centers as a way to meet the needs of the students in regards to media training and advice as well as allowing students to experience practical work that corresponds with their theoretical or academic specializations.The President of the University of Damascus affirmed that the University strives persistently to ensure that with special preparation the College of Media is provided with all that it needs to become a model college.And in his turn, Wadah Khanafar, the General Manager of the Al Jazeera Network remarked that the students of this historic university have the right to this kind of education, and it is our job to share this expertise and experience with them as well as benefit from both the scientific or theoretical and the practical sides of media studies.
