On April 2, Dr. Wael Mulla, President of the University of Damascus and Professor Aram Simonian, the President of Yerevan State University, with the Armenian Ambassador to Syria also in attendance, discussed the possibility of developing cooperative relations between the two institutions in regards to science and culture. The two sides examined issues and concerns relating to the possibility of signing an agreement to enable the two universities to engage in cooperative work that would include different scientific and cultural specializations; especially in the field of Arabic language education and the support that the University of Damascus could provide to the College of Orientalist Studies at Yerevan State. The two sides agreed to continue communication and consultations between representatives of the two universities about the proposed cooperation.
