Dr. Wael Mualla, the President of Damascus University discussed with Mr. Iwasaki the new Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency "JICA" in Damascus, the ways of developing scientific cooperation between the two sides. The two sides emphasized the importance of the activities and projects carried out by JICA in collaboration with Damascus University and the need to work in order to develop this cooperation to include projects in other areas. The collaboration between Damascus University and JICA includes several areas and the most important one is the support that JICA provides to the Department of Japanese Language in the Faculty of Arts and to the Centre of Japanese Language in the Higher Institute of Languages, in addition to organizing courses for leading information officer to promote the e-government in Syria.
