Introductory Workshop on the Software Competition Launched by Ministry of Communications and Technology at the Faculty of Information Engineering

In partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Communications and Technology organized an introductory workshop at the Faculty of Information Engineering at Damascus University. The workshop aimed to familiarize participants with the software competition related to digital transformation, focusing on encouraging innovation in the field of programming by fostering competitive spirit among young individuals. The workshop aimed to shape a future characterized by creativity and innovation.

 

His Excellency, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, emphasized that the collaboration with the Ministry of Communications is not the first of its kind. However, this particular event is of great importance, receiving the attention of the government, particularly President Bashar al-Assad. He explained that the Ministry of Higher Education always seeks to connect university with society, and aims through this competition to develop significant projects in digital transformation. He wished success and prosperity to the participating students from universities, specialized technical institutes, and postgraduate students.

 

 

His Excellency, Mr. Iyad Al-Khatib, Minister of Communications and Technology, stated that the ministry has established internet laboratories in Syrian universities with the aim of linking university with the job market. He noted that software industries now rival heavy industries in terms of profitability. The programming competition aims to invest in young individuals, celebrate leading digital initiatives in society, reward them, highlight national talents, and contribute to spreading a culture of excellence and innovation at the national level. The results of the competition will be announced during the Hi-tech exhibition at Damascus International Fairground.

 

 

The workshop was attended by Dr. Osama Al-Jabban, President of Damascus University, Emad Al-Omar, a member of the Executive Office of the National Union of Syrian Students, Director of the Information Technology Department at the Ministry of Interior, Dean of the Faculty of Information Engineering and his deputies, and the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, along with a large number of professors and students.
