Launching the Third International Conference on Biomedical Engineering at Damascus University

The Third International Conference on Biomedical Engineering, organized by the

Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Damascus University, began on the amphitheater of Damascus University under the title “Biomedical Engineering and its Role in Developing Health Care,” with the participation of 45 scientific papers from 16 Arab and foreign countries, accompanied by an exhibition of medical equipment in the Reda Saeed Conference Hall. 

 

The three-day conference activities include workshops, special sessions in the fields of biomedical engineering, and lectures for participating medical companies on the latest medical device technologies.

 

In his opening speech, President of Damascus University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban, stressed the importance of scientific conferences, as scientific academic platforms concerned with supporting students, developing their abilities, and informing them of the latest discoveries and research in various scientific fields.

 

Prof. Al-Jabban said that Damascus University, on its first centenary and the beginning of its second centenary, is constantly striving to keep pace with scientific developments in all scientific fields, including the field of biomedical engineering, through opening many pioneering and advanced projects, like the educational laboratory for the magnetic resonance imaging device in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the digital laboratory at the Faculty of Dentistry, and the Center of Developing the Digital Medical Education at the Faculty of Medicine.

 

Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Rasha Massoud, noted that the conference lasts for three days and features 45 scientific research papers from 16 Arab and foreign countries. The conference will cover several topics, including biomechanics, medical imaging, artificial intelligence applications in medicine and medical diagnosis, medical robotics and control, healthcare and biomedical engineering, and audiology and medical engineering. Additionally, there will be workshops, special sessions, and virtual meetings with external researchers.

 

The opening ceremony was attended by the Governor of Damascus, Deputy Presidents of Damascus University, deans of Damascus University faculties and higher institutes, directors of technical institutes, as well as experts, enthusiasts, and students of biomedical engineering.
