Faculty of Law Hosts the Monthly Book Fair

To celebrate Syrian Book Day, Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubanah Mshaweh, opened the Syrian Monthly Book fair at the Faculty of Law, Damascus University, in the presence of University President, Professor Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban, his Deputy for Administrative Affairs, Professor Mohamad Turko, Director of the Syrian General Organization of Books, and Dean of the Faculty of Law.

 

In a statement to journalists, Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubanah Mshaweh, explained that the Syrian General Organization of Books is used to hold periodic fairs in a number of faculties at Damascus University and other universities. The fair features a diverse collection of modern titles in various fields and genres, including politics, sociology, literature, and children's books. It also includes all books published by the Ministry of Culture, such as magazines and periodicals for children and adults, and books from Arab Encyclopedia. Her Excellency hoped that university students will find benefit from the fair and find something that will help them on the path of knowledge.

 

For his part, Director of the Syrian General Organization of Books, Dr. Nayef Al-Yasin, explained that the Organization has been holding the fair every year centrally and at the same time in the governorates, universities, sales outlets, and cultural centers. He also pointed out that the fair includes about 1,600 diverse titles, an important part of which is directed to children, and the discount rate reached 50% on all recent publications.

 

It is noteworthy that the fair will run at the Faculty of Law until the end of this month in the new auditorium building.
