Damascus University has begun to pay financial rewards to researchers who have been able to publish external research in well-rated scientific journals in international databases, based on the relevant decision of the University Council.

 Promoting education for gifted and highly capable students is essential for building a society focused on scientific knowledge. Syria has implemented various strategies and initiatives to identify, develop, and support the talents of gifted students, contributing to the enhancement of talent and creativity in the country.

 The university is considered the main stronghold for the development of scientific research, because of its role in producing knowledge through scientific research that contributes to achieving comprehensive and sustainable development. True scientific research is a national asset and a great national wealth, and the key to development and the path to advancement.

In order to complement the University's plan to explore global sites, disseminate Syrian scientific research and introduce the Syrian scholar to the global scientific community, Damascus University has endeavoured to index and catalogue its journals within the Asian Science Citation Index (ASCI), as it is important to introduce Asian peoples to each other's science, and exchange experiences and research.
