The University of Damascus celebrates International Jerusalem Day in cooperation with the Iranian Cultural Chancellery

 Today, the University of Damascus, in cooperation with the Iranian Scientific Chancellery, organized a celebration of International Jerusalem Day entitled “The Importance of Jerusalem as a Symbol of the P.a.l.e.s.t.i.n.i.a.n Cause” at the auditorium theatre of the University of Damascus. It also honored a number of P.a.l.e.s.t.i.n.i.a.n university professors who have a special imprint on the educational process.

 

Cultural Advisor to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Hamid Reza Mukhtas Abadi, stressed in a statement to the university’s website the importance of holding the International Jerusalem Day in cooperation with the University of Damascus, as it is the correct place to inform young people about the crimes of the Z.i.o.n.i.s.t aggression against our people in G.a.z.a.

 

For his part, Scientific Advisor to the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, Dr. Mehdi Fayrouz Kuhi, stated that these events have a major role in supporting university professors in demonstrating the P.a.l.e.s.t.i.n.i.a.n right, explaining that Syria and Iran stand in the same trench in defending the P.a.l.e.s.t.i.n.i.a.n people.

 

Dean of the Faculty of Political Science, Dr. Muhammad Hassoun, indicated that International Jerusalem Day is a victory for the P.a.l.e.s.t.i.n.i.a.n people and their just cause.

 

Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Sinan Ammar, spoke in his lecture, “The P.a.l.e.s.t.i.n.i.a.n Issue between Resettlement and the Right of Return,” about the legal aspect of the situation of P.a.l.e.s.t.i.n.i.a.n refugees in Syria, as Syria gives P.a.l.e.s.t.i.n.i.a.n refugee all the rights entitled by Syrian citizens while retaining their P.a.l.e.s.t.i.n.i.a.n nationality to guarantee they maintain the right of return.

 

A member of the teaching staff at the University of Damascus, Dr. Waddah Al-Khatib, stressed during his lecture the necessity of confronting the misinformation and falsification campaigns targeting the P.a.l.e.s.t.i.n.i.a.n issue.

 

At the end of the celebration, the University of Damascus honored a number of professors and faculty members of P.a.l.e.s.t.i.n.i.a.n origin who have a major role in supporting the educational process at the university.
