How to choose a peer-reviewed world-class scientific journal that publishes research papers written in Arabic

Scientific publishing is one of the most important gateways for genuine scientific output; unpublished scientific research is viewed as an incomplete scientific contribution. One of the main obstacles students face in the publishing process is the issue of language, which plays a significant role in certain fields. Dr. Basel Samee' Younes, Director of Scientific Research at Damascus University, provided guidance and instructions on the university's website to help overcome this obstacle. He stated that finding a peer-reviewed journal that publishes in Arabic for certain fields is straightforward if the student possesses the necessary knowledge and the correct approach to search for journals within global databases. He advised students wishing to publish to follow these steps: First: Scopus  databases

You can access the website through the following link: https://www.scopus.com/home.uri?zone=header&origin=sbrowse

Click on (Scopus Source List) from the (Scopus content) list:

Then the following page appears and you have to choose (Download the source title list)

After downloading the file that shows all the magazines within the ranking up to the download date, open the downloaded Excel file and it appears as follows:

To view the magazines published in Arabic, select cell (H1) and add a filter:

Then click on the filter button and choose from the list (ARA) Arabic. You can select more than one language in addition to Arabic such as Arabic and English (ARA, ENG) from the filter list:

To select active journals and exclude inactive ones (those that have stopped publishing or have been removed from the ranking), click on the filter button in cell (E1) and choose (Active), and a list of active journals appears.

To find out and choose active magazines until 2024, press the filter button in cell (F1) and write 2024 in the filter.

To select journals, just click on the filter button in cell (M1) and choose (Journal).

Upon completion of these steps, you will see all active magazines up to the date of downloading the file that are published in Arabic. You can choose a magazine from among these magazines to publish in.

As for the website (Web of Science), you can access the website through the link: https://mjl.clarivate.com/home

Then, click on (Search Journals) without typing any word in the search bar:

The following page appears and you need to click on (Language) and then click in the box that appears:

Choose the Arabic language (ARABIC) as shown in the picture:

A list of  journals published in Arabic, that are indexed  on the (Web Of Science) website, will appear  from which the student can choose..

Director of Scientific Research noted that this list is periodic and is updated regularly

At the end of his talk with Damascus University website, Dr. Basel Younes explained that the main reasons for the rejection of scientific articles are: lack of alignment between the content of the research and the editorial policy and publication policy of the journal, a high percentage of plagiarism in the research content, weak quality in presenting information, or grammatical errors. He advised students to avoid these common mistakes to ensure the publication of their research and to save their time.
