The sessions of the first annual international conference of the Syrian Association of Psychiatrists on its second day included various topics and themes, including sociology, psychiatry, advanced drug treatments in psychiatry, psychology and psychological treatments.
The Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Damascus University, Dr. Samer Mohsen, gave a lecture on cognitive behavioral therapy techniques in managing chronic dizziness. He shed light on the cognitive behavioral patterns and disorders and emotional disorders that arise in patients with chronic dizziness, and on how to manage them through good consultation and following integrated mental health paths between the otologist and audiologist on the one hand and the psychiatrist on the other.
The Director of the University Counseling and Psychological Support Unit at Damascus University, Dr. Mazen Al-Shammat, pointed out that the university has made great strides in the field of integrating mental health services, and has dedicated this through the establishment of the Integrated Mental Health Clinic, which provides services in this field to Damascus University students free of charge under the supervision of psychological and social specialists
From the Syrian Society for Social Development, Dr. Youssef Moussalli highlighted in his lecture that community psychiatry is a new branch that aims to integrate psychiatrists with the society, with a comprehensive approach to this subject based on establishing a comprehensive system for mental health.
