Visions for Developing the Educational System in Syria: A Collaborative Workshop between Central Education and Vanguards Office, Ministry of Education, and Damascus University

 Under the patronage of Assistant Secretary-General of Arab Socialist Baath Party, Professor Ibrahim Hadid, Central Education and Vanguards Office, in cooperation with Ministry of Education and Damascus University, held a workshop entitled “Visions for Developing the Educational System in the Syrian Arab Republic” at Damascus University Auditorium.

 

The opening of the workshop was attended by a number of members of the Party's Central Command, Ministers of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research, Head of Teachers' Syndicate, President of the National Union of Syrian Students, President of Damascus University and his deputies, representatives of party, political and educational leaderships, organizations and professional unions, a number of members of parliament, faculty members and a group of students.

 

The workshop opened with a speech by Assistant Secretary-General, Prof. Ibrahim Hadid, in which he spoke about the role of teacher and of education as the most important element in shaping awareness.

 

Minister of Education, Prof.  Muhammad Amer Al-Mardini, pointed out that the workshop is interactive and aims to discuss the most important educational issues and problems through a group of workshops that address all educational sectors.

 

The workshop included several topics on developing educational curricula, developing the examination system for primary and secondary certificates, the reality of vocational education and private education, qualification and training for teachers, educational paths, investment in education, the relationship with organizations and developing extracurricular activities.
