Opening of "Garden of Hope" at the Faculty of Agriculture at Damascus University

 Faculty of Agriculture at Damascus University celebrated the opening of the "Garden of Hope" in the presence of President of the University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban; Governor of Damascus, Eng. Tariq Kreishati; Director General of ACSAD, Dr. Dr. Naser Eddin Al Obaid; President of the Federation of Agricultural Chambers, Muhammad Kashto; President of the Agricultural Engineers Syndicate, Ali Saadat; and President of the University Branch of National Union of Syrian Students.

 

During the opening ceremony, President of Damascus University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban, stressed the University's keenness over the past years to accomplish and adopt a large number of scientific events and activities, which led to success at all levels, especially with regard to raising the university's classification, pointing out that the Faculty of Agriculture has taken distinguished steps in terms of publishing scientific research.

 

Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Afraa Salloum, pointed to the importance of joint work and collective cooperation with several public, private, and civil bodies, to complete this distinguished work, "Garden of Hope".

 

Among the supervisors of the Garden, Dr. Hadi Sharaf stressed the importance of constructive and effective cooperation between state and civil society institutions in the reconstruction phase, describing the “Garden of Hope” as a pioneering experience.

 

ACSAD's Director-General, Dr. Naser Eddin Obaid, praised the importance of the garden, which is considered a model for deepening scientific, applied and research concepts in the field of biodiversity.


Engineer Batoul Sharaf from the garden supervision team pointed out that this work is associated with love and loyalty to Damascus University, and it is the fruit of great cooperation between several parties that joined hands to show this work in the best way, pointing to the participation of a group of people with special needs in the garden work through planting and watering rose seedlings.

 

The opening ceremony was attended by vice deans and heads of departments, Director General of the Scientific Commission for Agricultural Research and Head of Damascus Chamber of Agriculture, representatives of organizations and professional unions, members of the university branch leadership of the National Union of Syrian Students and a group of professors and students.
