In an effort to connect the university with the community, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Damascus University, Daraa Branch, has launched a production and training camp. This initiative is in collaboration with the private sector, veterinary pharmaceutical companies, and the public sector, supported by the Veterinary Doctors Syndicate in Daraa and the advisory units in the villages of the governorate.
The camp aims to equip graduates with field and laboratory skills and enhance their ability to address health issues in farm animals. This is to protect both humans and animals from disease outbreaks, prevent zoonotic diseases, ensure food safety, and provide essential animal protein by increasing productivity and preserving livestock. Additionally, the camp will help integrate graduates with the community and animal breeders, benefiting from the expertise of veterinarians in the advisory units in the villages.
The camp includes visits to several villages in the governorate’s countryside, which have significant livestock, visits to poultry farms, feed factories, a modern veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturing plant, and the health clinic laboratories affiliated with the Daraa National Hospital. The camp also includes a tour in the radiology and ultrasound department in the hospital, which is crucial for diagnosing pregnancy and small animal diseases.
It is worth noting that the camp started on the 25th of this month and will last for two weeks, involving 45 fifth-year students from the Faculty.
