Screen Translation: A workshop at the Higher Institute of Translation and Interpretation

The Higher Institute of Translation and Interpretation organized a workshop entitled "Screen Translation", which focused on the specifics and standards of on-screen translation, training on transcription and translation, creating SRT files using the latest translation software, and how to synchronize text with video clips and integrate translation with video.

Dean of the Institute, Dr. Fouad Khoury, explained that the workshop comes within the training activities of the Office of Professional Practice, with the aim of qualifying individuals capable of translating written material on the screen, including cinema, drama, documentaries, and others.

Dr. Khoury noted that screen translation is one of the subjects of the Master’s degree in Audiovisual Translation at the Institute, which is concerned with translation for television, cinema, specialized companies, and everything related to video.

Vice Dean, Dr. Nermeen Al Nafra confirmed that this workshop contributes to bridging the gap between the information and training that the trainees receive during the workshop and the requirements of the labor market.
