Food Security and Sustainable Development: A Scientific Forum at Damascus University

 Smart agriculture, food processing problems, food security and its policies were the main themes of the Food Security and Sustainable Development Forum organized by the Quality Assurance Center at Damascus University, in cooperation with the Faculty of Agriculture and EMBS for Management Engineering. The forum is accompanied by an exhibition of projects by students of the Faculty of Agriculture.

 

Director of the Quality Assurance Center, Dr. Amirah Al-Nour, stressed the importance of the forum in enhancing the idea of ​​community partnership between the university and local community institutions in various fields.

 

Eng. Israa Hamdan, Director of EMBS, pointed out that this forum is the first between international organizations and industrial companies. She added that it aims to integrate organizational and local efforts and the efforts of industrial companies to support sustainable development projects.

 

In a lecture entitled, “Food Security and Sustainable Development”, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Afraa Salloum, presented a definition of food security and its four dimensions (availability, access, utilization and stability.)
