A training workshop on “The Impact of Reform and Arbitration on the Treatment of Marital Problems” began at the Faculty of Sharia at Damascus University, in cooperation with Ifaf Society, with the participation of specialized lecturers from professors, judges, lawyers, doctors, and educators.
The workshop targets all those interested in family problem treatment from all scientific and literary university specializations through 30 hours of practical and theoretical training extending over ten days.
The first part of the workshop focuses on family arbitration, the characteristics, duties and powers of the Sharia arbitrator, the role of the arbitrator and family conciliator, types of divorce and khula and the Sharia rules related to them, and guidance and experiences for treating family problems through practical cases.
The second part deals with the most important concepts that must be corrected for litigants in married life, the impact of psychological disorders on married life, family reform from a purposive perspective, judicial separation, visitation and its impact on children, and reconciliation in Islamic law.
Dean of the Faculty of Sharia, Dr. Hassan Awad, stated that the workshop seeks to present arbitration and family reform as a treatment for marital and family problems.
Director of Ifaf Society, Dr. Muhammad Hani Al-Shaal, noted that the workshop is the result of cooperation between Ifaf Society and Damascus University with the aim of providing Family Reform Project with new distinguished cadres through a training program that focuses on issues of arbitration and reconciliation.
It is worth noting that the workshop is the second between Damascus University and Ifaf Society in the field of family reform.
