Lectures of the first day of the first annual international conference of the Syrian Association of Psychiatrists focused on mental health and sleep disorders among residents of Syria, the challenges of personalized and precision medicine in psychiatry, addiction and pain, psychiatry and the law, and esketamine in the treatment of treatment-resistant depression.
Dr. Ahmed Shamdin, from the Syrian Association of Psychiatric presented the results of a survey on the level of awareness of mental health in the Syrian community, which included several axes like basic concepts of mental health and awareness of available services, societal stigma and methods of care and psychological treatment.
Dr. Mazen Al-Khalil's lecture focused on mental health and law in Syria: "A critical analysis of the legislative reality and the need for a modern legal framework"
Dr. Gandhi Farah, Director-General of Ibn Rushd Hospital for Psychiatric Diseases and Addiction, spoke about the physiological mechanisms of pain and its different classifications, pain modification, points of overlap between pain and addiction, and the synergy between them.
It is noteworthy that the conference activities will continue for three days, along with a pharmaceutical exhibition in the Reda Saeed Conference Hall.
