The activities of the second Russian-Syrian conference in the field of healthcare under the title "Ibn Sina's Methods" began with scientific lectures from the Department of Ophthalmology, which were held alternately by the Russian and Syrian sides. They shed light on the latest developments and advancements in the field of ophthalmology, new diagnostic and treatment techniques for eye diseases.
Professor Sameh Issa from the Ophthalmology Department at the Faculty of Medicine at Damascus University spoke about his joint scientific research with the Atomic Energy Commission on the amniotic membrane. He explained that this bio-membrane was produced under difficult conditions, and it provides significant medical uses and services, especially in treating the eye, wounds, burns, and gynecological surgeries.
Dr. Rana Omran, Director of the Surgical Eye Hospital and Corneal Diseases Specialist, explained that her lecture dealt with keratoconus and its most important treatments, such as photocoagulation.
During the conference, the Russian side gave a lecture on a live surgical operation from Moscow, in which they demonstrated vitrectomy and phacoemulsification surgery using modern techniques and advanced methods, which contributes to enriching local experiences.
The activities of the first day concluded with lectures on obstetrics, gynecology and neonatology, which focused on antibiotic resistance in obstetrics, gynecology and neonatology, diagnosis of acute respiratory viral infections, diagnosis of fungal infections in obstetrics, gynecology and neonatology, newborn clinical examination, and ethnic aspects of reproductive medicine
