The Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences' second scientific conference will begin with an exhibition of traditional crafts.

In collaboration with the Al-Quds International Foundation, the Union of Arab Historians in Baghdad, the General Union of Craftsmen, and the Arab Writers Union, the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences launched its second scientific conference today. The event was complemented by a display of traditional Syrian crafts of the Dummar Central Incubator of Syrian Traditional Arts.

Professor Maysaa Al-Syoufi, Damascus University Vice President for Scientific Affairs, affirmed in her speech that the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences is a platform for culture, science, and civilization and that it consistently draws intellectuals and those with an interest in cultural affairs in Syria and the Arab world. She went on to explain that the second scientific conference focuses mainly on the fundamental relationships between the various sciences.

Al-Syoufi clarified that the conference’s research papers are concentrated on the humanities and social sciences in particular, as these are the fundamental disciplines that establish a person's place in the world and protect his humanity.

Prof. Al-Syoufi discussed the exhibition of traditional Syrian crafts, stating that it has become a well-known tradition in the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences. It honours skilled craftsmen and makers and showcases crafts from the Dummar Central Incubator, all with the goal of preserving these crafts and guaranteeing their longevity.

Union members, artisans, and representatives from Russia's Kuban State University all attended the event. Five days of scientific sessions will be held during the conference, which is being attended by professors from the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences, the Union of Arab Historians, the Al-Quds International Foundation, and the Arab Writers Union.
