The Technology Growth Incubator participated in the International Businessmen and Businesswomen and Service Companies Forum/Servex2024, held at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus, showcasing 14 projects adopted by the incubator from the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Information Technology at Damascus University.
Dr. Ghaith Warkozek, Director of the Incubator explained that this the second participation in the Servex Forum with the aim of providing students with the opportunity to interact directly with businessmen and investors visiting the forum and benefiting from their experiences in developing models and projects.
Dr. Warkozek indicated that the participating projects were selected during the current academic year 2023/2024 by a scientific committee and followed up by the academic supervisor at the faculty, with the incubator providing all materials and equipment for the students.
In an interview with entrepreneurs, student Ayman Bakleh from the (Artificial Intelligence) robotics team at the Incubator stated that the team is participating in the forum with four projects adopted by the incubator. The first involves integrating robotics and artificial intelligence. The second project is a robot that moves in closed environments like hospitals and schools to perform automated tasks. The third project is a smart driving car that can automatically avoid obstacles, and the fourth is an agricultural application consisting of three robots, including a drone, which work to identify agricultural lands, detect problems, and solve them.
Entrepreneur Maryam Mansour explained that her team's participation in the forum involves a device for treating chronic lower back pain through physical therapy and spinal cord stimulation, a method proven to be effective and safe.
It is worth mentioning that the Technology Growth Incubator EVOTECH was established in the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Damascus University in 2023 in collaboration with the university and the Syrian Development Trust, aiming to support and develop the economic, social, and technological situation in Syria by preparing university students to start their professional lives, advance in their career paths and practice their entrepreneurial role.
