In a move reflecting its academic and cultural openness, Damascus University has announced the launch of a Turkish Language Department as part of its new programs at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities for the 2025–2026 academic year. This addition joins a distinguished list of departments aimed at meeting labor market demands and fostering cultural exchange among nations.

In the presence of Dr. Abdul Hamid Al-Khaled, Deputy Minister of Higher Education for Student Affairs, the President of Damascus University, Prof. Mustafa Sa’em Al-Dahr, honored Dr. Nabil Nader Kochaji from the Faculty of Dentistry, in recognition of his scientific contributions and academic excellence on the occasion of the publication of his book "Clinical Oral Pathology- Kochaji's Guide to Oral Lesions and Biopsies" by the international publishing company Springer in Germany, in English.
 

A research team from the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science in Damascus University has successfully developed new chemical precursors for tellurium compounds, used in the synthesis of colloidal mercury telluride quantum dots (HgTe CQDs). These nanomaterials are considered promising candidates for infrared optical devices, such as sensors and photodetectors.

Urban development relies fundamentally on the strength of local communities. As societal demands and emergency conditions intensify, spatial challenges have multiplied, prompting the need for innovative technology integration. Artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure have become indispensable for advancing development and improving the operational capacity of local communities, ultimately expediting urban recovery and enhancing the urban fabric’s responsiveness to spatial issues.

Dr. Ismail Matawa', Vice President of the Union of Syrian Doctors and Pharmacists in France, explained that the campaign was part of the First Arab-European Medical Conference, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with participation from leading French and Syrian physicians, as well as representatives of the Union's president and board.
 

In a study combining natural resources and modern technologies, a Damascus University team synthesized silver nanoparticles from Syrian Sidr plant extracts for biomedical applications.

The University Counseling and Psychological Support Unit at Damascus University organized a distinguished scientific day titled “Traits and Symptoms of Autism and ADHD”, in collaboration with the Phoenix Foundation for Education and Development and the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS).

Damascus University hosted a seminar titled “Transitional Justice and the Challenge of Recovering Looted Funds in Syria” in the University Council Hall, with the participation of University President Professor Dr. Mustafa Sa’em Al-Dahr. The event was organized in collaboration between the Center for Strategic Studies and Research and the Syrian Dialogue Center, and brought together a diverse group of experts, decision-makers, and representatives from government bodies, civil society organizations, and specialized institutions.

Damascus University hosted a workshop titled “Enhancing the Efficiency of Historic Buildings for Optimal Use”, organized in collaboration between the Directorate of Old Damascus and the Higher Institute for Regional Planning. The workshop aimed to establish criteria and requirements for repurposing Damascene houses as sustainable tourist facilities, balancing preservation of historical heritage with modern use demands.

The University of Damascus, in collaboration with the International Science of Invention and Development Team, honored participants in the specialized academic program on invention and development, held from May 1 to September 30, 2025.
