"Arabic Language and Its Impact on Enhancing National Identity": Scientific Conference at Quneitra Branch of Damascus University

 

On the occasion of Tishreen Holidays, Fourth Faculty of Arts and Humanities in Quneitra Branch of Damascus University organized a scientific conference titled "Arabic Language and Its Impact on Enhancing National Identity," in collaboration with the National Union of Syrian Students, Quneitra Branch, Arab Writers Union, and Sham Land Foundation. The conference was attended by official and cultural figures in the governorate.

 

The conference focused on highlighting the role of the Arabic language in enhancing national identity and its role in facing the challenges of cultural globalization.

 

The first session, titled "The Impact of Cultural and Educational Institutions on Enhancing the Arabic Language," was chaired by Dr. Mohammad Al-Hourani, President of Arab Writers Union. The session included the following contributions:

 

- Dr. Nabil Abo Amsha presented a study on the importance of Arabic grammar in defining Arabic identity, emphasizing its pivotal role in preserving the language's authenticity and enhancing cultural identity.

 

- Dr. Sanaa Al-Rayes presented a vision on renewing Arabic grammar, stressing the need to develop grammar rules in line with contemporary requirements.

 

- Dr. Mona Daghestani discussed the role of the Arabic language in scientific research, highlighting the importance of enhancing the presence of the Arabic language in academic research and keeping up with scientific advancements.

 

The second session titled "Arabic Language and Thought," was chaired by Dr. Ahmed Ali Mohammad. Contributions included:

 

- Prof. Mohammad Al-Abdullah presented a research titled "National Identity, Nationalism, and Resistance," discussing the role of the Arabic language in shaping national identity and enhancing nationalist spirit as a tool for cultural resistance.

 

- Dr. Rima Al-Diab discussed the topic of linguistic dualism, explaining its impact on the use of the Arabic language in daily life and the necessity of bridging the gap between classical Arabic and colloquial dialects.

 

- Dr. Riham Al-Sharif talked about linguistic dualism from an intellectual and social perspective, emphasizing the importance of empowering the Arabic language in cultural and educational institutions.

 

The second day of the conference began with a session titled "Aesthetics of the Arabic Language," chaired by Prof. Mohammad Al-Abdullah. Contributions included:

 

- Prof. Issam Al-Kousa presented a research titled "Aesthetics of Stress and Intonation in the Arabic Language," discussing the importance of stress and intonation as phonetic elements that enhance the beauty of the Arabic language and clarity of meanings.

 

Participants discussed the aesthetics of the Arabic language from phonetic and technological perspectives, emphasizing the importance of keeping up with modern developments to ensure the language's continuity in academic and technological fields.

 

The second session of the second day was titled "Arabic Language between Media and Digitization - Reality and Challenges," chaired by Dr. Mohammad Al-Anizan. Contributions included:

 

- Prof. Ahmed Ali Mohammad’s research paper titled "Arabic Language and the Digital Divide," discussed the challenges faced by the Arabic language in the digital transformation and the necessity of bridging the digital divide to ensure the language's presence in the technical field.

 

- Dr. Jamal Abu Samra discussed a research titled "Golan in the Horizon of Artificial Intelligence: Interaction of Technology and National Identity."
