Background: Social media has been widely utilized to spread health-related information, which has led to the possibility of spreading medical misinformation. The extent of the issue is unknown, even though policymakers, researchers, and medical professionals agree that health misinformation must be controlled and combated.

 Faculty of Health Sciences at Damascus University organized a workshop on “Cochlear implant from Identification to Rehabilitation”. The workshop is organized with the participation of professors, specialists and experts in the field of auditory rehabilitation from Syria and the United Arab Emirates.

  The Faculty of Medicine at Damascus University honored 320 doctors-the top three graduate students from each department and in all years. With the participation of professors, the ceremony was followed by a scientific symposium targeting graduate students. The symposium included lectures on a number of autoimmune diseases.

 The Digital Transformation Office at Damascus University launched a training course on publishing on the interactive platform that the university launched last year in cooperation with Foundation for Development (Taazor). This workshop, which took place in the laboratory of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, is intended for the managers of the university’s quality assurance offices

 Third season of enrichment lectures began at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Damascus University, including three main themes: genetics studies, artificial intelligence and its applications in the medical field, and statistical studies and use of Graphpad software. Lectures are presented by professors and specialists, on Tishreen auditorium in the faculty.

 The Global Award for Sustainable Architecture 2024, sponsored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), was awarded to a faculty member at the Faculty of Architecture at Damascus University, Dr. Iyas Shahin, alongside his fellow architect, Dr. Wesam Al-Asali, a graduate of Damascus University. The two researchers received the award at the University of Venice, Italy, on April 19, 2024.

 The long duration required for orthodontic treatment is considered one of the major challenges faced by orthodontists. Therefore, numerous techniques and methods have been developed in this field with the aim of reducing the total time of orthodontic treatment. Low-intensity electrical stimulation (LIES) is a relatively new technique that has received little attention in orthodontics as a means to accelerate orthodontic tooth movement.

The workshop was organized by Damascus University’s Branch in Daraa, in cooperation with the branch of the National Union of Syrian Students and one of the companies specialized in this field with the participation of trainees from university students and employees of government institutions. The aim was to provide participants with the necessary skills to meet quality requirements according to international standards so that the trainee can perform his work efficiently and effectively by practicing international quality systems.

President of Damascus University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban, had a meeting with Action Against Hunger delegation which included the organization’s Deputy Director, Haidi Sadiq, and Food Security and Livelihoods Coordinator, Dr. Wael Haddad. The two parties discussed prospects and areas of cooperation.

The 2024 Scientific Engineering Conference starts on May 27, under the title “Sustainability in Civil Engineering Facilities”.
